Yesterday evening, Thursday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani received a phone call from US President Joseph Biden, during which they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the development of joint cooperation in many fields. And the statement continued, "The US President welcomed the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Fuad Hussein to Washington next week, whose talks will focus on economic opportunities and cooperation in the field of energy and climate."
He pointed out that "the prime minister and the American president agreed that the stability of the region depends on the stability of Iraq, and that Iraq should not be used as a springboard to attack its neighbors or points of presence of the advisors of the international coalition against terrorism present in the country at the invitation of the government, and it was agreed to stay in constant communication in the months." coming to strengthen the close bilateral relations. In the meantime, the Iraqis are carefully awaiting and following up on what will result from the upcoming visit that will be made within days to Washington by a senior Iraqi delegation headed by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to meet with American officials and the administration of the US Federal Bank. Committee member Muthanna Amin stated, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "with the minimum American demands met, the visit can succeed, and that the crisis will end and will not continue, and without achieving the minimum American demands, that visit cannot succeed."
He pointed out that "the issue is related to the existence of a national will for Iraq to be able to fulfill the minimum demands, and that national interests dictate that we control dollar smuggling, and that if these wills are not achieved, there will be catastrophic consequences for the country." In addition, the economist, Nabil Al-Marsoumi, stated that "what the US side will provide to Iraq will depend on the discussions that the Iraqi delegation is conducting with the US government and the US Federal Bank, and informing Washington of the Iraqis' demands on this issue."
Al-Marsoumi explained to "Al-Sabah" that "the response of the United States and its simplification of procedures by postponing the electronic platform for some time until the completion of technical preparations depends on the method of dialogue that the Iraqi delegation will follow," stressing that "if the United States does not respond, then the dollar is heading towards an upward trend."
