    Statement from the US Treasury regarding the Istanbul meeting with the Central Bank
    Undersecretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson met with Central Bank of Iraq Governor Ali Al-Alaq in Istanbul on February 3 to discuss banking sector reforms and a mutual commitment to combating money laundering and countering financing. Measures of Terrorism (AML/CFT).  
      
    Undersecretary Nelson welcomed Governor Allaq's leadership on these issues, noting the long-standing cooperation and partnership between the Treasury and the CBI, particularly on restricting illicit and corrupt actors from exploiting the international financial system. Under Secretary Nelson acknowledged Iraq's unwavering dedication to improving AML/CFT compliance standards and offered continued cooperation in modernizing the banking sector.

    On Saturday, the US Treasury welcomed the efforts of the Central Bank of Iraq in the field of banking reform and combating money laundering.
    A Treasury statement stated, “Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson met with CBI Governor Ali Al-Alaq in Istanbul on February 3 to discuss banking sector reforms and mutual commitment to anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) measures.” ". 
    And "Undersecretary Nelson welcomed Governor Al-Allaq's leadership on these issues," noting "the long-standing cooperation and partnership between the Treasury Department and the Central Bank of Iraq, particularly on restricting illicit and corrupt actors from exploiting the international financial system."
