    On Sunday, the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority announced the start of an international audit of aviation security in Iraq.

    The authority said in a statement, which "NAS" received a copy of, (February 5, 2023), that "the international audit of civil aviation security has begun for Erbil International Airport - Iraq, in the presence of the international audit team - ICAO, the Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, the head of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority and a team Security audit of the Civil Aviation Security Department.  
      
    And the head of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, Imad Abdul-Razzaq Al-Asadi, stated, according to the statement, "We are happy today with the concerted efforts of all concerned in civil aviation in the country in order to pass the international security audit process USAP-CMA, and through the international audit team - ICAO, which aims to comply with Iraq to implement all international standards and obligations with regard to the security and facilities of civil aviation in the country.  
      
    And he stressed, "The security audit will be a starting point for a promising future for aviation after applying all the recommendations and observations, because of its great impact in attracting foreign influxes into the country and will thus enhance the reality of economic development in Iraq."
