A British website revealed that the pressures imposed by the US Federal Reserve on the Central Bank of Iraq paralyzed the Iraqi markets and encouraged the smuggling of dollars across the borders.

To reduce corruption and illegal flows of dollars, a slogan raised by the US Federal Reserve to the Central Bank of Iraq, which paralyzed the Iraqi markets and widely encouraged the smuggling of dollars across the border.

A report by the British Middle East website says that the US Federal Reserve has imposed new restrictions on the auction of the Iraqi dollar, which Baghdad uses to transfer the US dollars it received for oil sales. According to the site, intelligence information indicates that dollar smuggling operations have recently grown by land through the Kurdistan region, and from there to Turkey or Dubai, which prompted the Iraqi government to establish several new checkpoints equipped with sonar devices along the road from Baghdad to Kurdistan.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi government took several urgent steps to confront the crisis, as it opened more official currency exchange offices, launched a plan to encourage small traders and investors to use the dollar auction, suspended taxes on some commodities, and the security forces launched a campaign to track down currency dealers and brokers who buy and sell. Dollars on the black market and many of them arrested, but auction sales in dollars are still lagging behind the average, according to the report.
