The Geologists Syndicate reviewed with the national oil companies mechanisms to increase the number of working geologists, especially after understanding and obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Oil to expand cooperation in this context.
The head of the Geologists Syndicate, Saad Obaid Muhammad, told Al-Sabah: He discussed with the Director General of the Dhi Qar Oil Company, Ali Khudair, ways of joint cooperation and benefiting from the technical capabilities that the union enjoys in supporting the production process of the company, in addition to absorbing the scientifically qualified energies in supplementing the oil work, including It contributes to the creation of national cadres capable of managing the country's oil industry.
He added that this meeting complemented the previous visits to the rest of the oil companies to coordinate with them to double the number of geologists to work within the oil sector.
Muhammad explained that the Syndicate has priorities and programs to follow up the procedures of the Ministry of Oil formations regarding determining their needs of geologists, in implementation of the Ministry of Oil’s book No. 1 on January 2, 2023, for the purpose of prior coordination in order to increase the numbers required for this segment.
He added that the meeting also took place with the directors of the North Oil Company, Berkan Hassan, the Middle Oil Company, Qadouri Salim, and the director of the Oil Exploration Company, Ali Jassim Hammoud, and discussed with them increasing the number of geologists to work within the companies’ departments after an order was issued by the Minister of Oil in this context, and the importance of the role of the geologist was widely discussed. Within the departments of the companies being the backbone of the extraction and field development operations, the visions of the union were also clarified, especially what was presented during the celebration of the Iraqi Geological Day, in the presence of the representative of the Minister of Oil, regarding giving the important role to this segment to exercise their real role.
He referred to discussions with directors of oil companies regarding the mechanism of training geologists on drilling towers and seismic teams affiliated with them and developing the capabilities and capabilities of scientific geologists, stressing that the directors of oil companies expressed a clear and tangible response to increasing the number of geologists working within the extractive companies in the Ministry of Oil and their keenness to develop and train this segment.
