Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - A member of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, Jamal Cougar, revealed today, Monday, that there are many reasons for delaying the approval of the federal financial budget for the year 2023.
Jamal Cougar said in an interview with Kurdistan 24 that the delay in approving the general budget is mainly due to "economic, technical and political problems, in addition to the delay in forming the current Iraqi government."
He explained that the budget was based on two foundations, one related to the revenue file and the second centered on estimating revenues at the dollar rate and the fluctuation of the value of the dinar, pointing out that this matter led to a delay in approving the budget.
Cougar pointed out that the failure to reach an agreement between Erbil and Baghdad and the political differences between them is another reason for not passing the budget bill.
He continued, "It seems that the agreement between the Kurdistan Region and the parties that formed the Iraqi government will not be implemented in the future, in addition to not sending the amount of 200 billion dinars from Baghdad to the region."
Cougar indicated that the budget will not be passed in parliament without the Kurds.
