Today, Monday, an independent deputy warned against approving the new election law, pointing out that it will return us to the previous regime.
Independent MP Jawad Al-Yisari said, in a press statement, that “the draft law for the provincial elections has been read for the first time.”

It is likely that “this law will face the opposition of the street and the opposition of independents, because it takes us back to the previous regime, abolishing multiple constituencies and making the governorate a unit constituency, and this gives an opportunity for parties to dominate the seats and deny independents access to parliament.”
And the leftist continued, “There will be a pause by the independents to stop this legislation, which is not in the interest of the people or in the interest of the small lists.”
And the independent deputy stated that “15 articles of the law have been read and are subject to amendment and deletion, but the parties and entities want to restore the old law to pass the next elections.”
