Today, Monday, the Iraqi National Security Agency announced the seizure of more than 350,000 liters of smuggled oil derivatives.

The agency stated in a statement, “In continuation of the efforts of the National Security Agency to pursue and arrest smugglers of oil derivatives and those who traffic in illegal means, the agency’s detachments were able, after obtaining judicial approvals, to arrest (24) suspects and seize more than (350) thousand liters of smuggled oil and its derivatives in governorates (Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, Diwaniyah, Wasit, Basra, Diyala, Najaf, Karbala) in addition to a number of dens that are used in storage operations.

He added, "This came as part of a series of raids and court ambushes that led to thwarting smuggling attempts," pointing out that "the statements of the defendants were duly recorded and referred with the seized items to the judicial authorities to receive their just punishment."
