    On Monday, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the need to give water resources a major priority in Iraq, because it represents the backbone of life and agriculture.
    The media office of the President of the Republic said in a statement, "The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received, at the Baghdad Palace, the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshlands."
    The President of the Republic stressed, according to the statement, "the need to give water wealth a great priority in Iraq, because it represents the backbone of life and agriculture in light of the harsh climatic changes that the whole world suffers from," noting "the importance of concerted efforts to preserve water resources in the country."
    He pointed to "the need to spread a culture of rationalizing water consumption, stopping waste and ending abuses based on the waters of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, in addition to enacting legislation and laws that guarantee water and agricultural security in the country," pointing out that "we need a road map to implement our programs and plans in this sector, as we have the possibility To store large quantities of water and build regulators on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to distribute water smoothly.
    Rashid pointed out, "The importance of active and serious dialogue with neighboring countries to ensure a fair share of water for Iraq, in a way that guarantees no harm to any party, and work to find ways of cooperation, joint coordination and exchange of experiences."
    The president stressed "the need to start improving the agricultural and water situation through a comprehensive revolution that includes modern irrigation methods and others, and the establishment of the necessary projects in the marshes," stressing that "the issue of the environment is a priority for us," noting that "groundwater is not only ours, but rather a share For the next generations".
