Two Chinese companies and an Emirati company won the development of gas fields in Iraq during the fifth final licensing round, which was held in the capital, Baghdad.

The RT correspondent stated that the GEO-JADE company won a contract for exploration, development and production of the Khana oil field in Diyala Governorate, in addition to developing and producing the Hawizeh field in Maysan Governorate.
He added that the Sinbad field in Basra Governorate was transferred to the UEG Company for Development and Production, while the Kalabat Fajr field in Diyala Governorate was transferred for development and production to the Emirati Crescent Oil Company, in addition to the Khashm al-Ahmar field in Diyala, which was also transferred to the same company for development and production.
Our correspondent pointed out that the Khidr Al-Maa area in Basra Governorate has been transferred for exploration, development and production to the Emirati Crescent Petroleum Company as well.
"We congratulate everyone on the final signing of the contracts for the fifth round, which has been long-awaited for five years, and whose delay has cost Iraq millions of dollars and negative environmental damage to citizens," Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani said during the signing ceremony.
He added, "The Cabinet's decision for this year was based on the recommendation of the Ministerial Energy Council, and an affirmation of what was included in the government program to allocate an axis for associated gas investment, according to our vision of economic reform."
Al-Sudani pointed out that "reform in the oil sector is the optimal investment of oil wealth, and Iraq's entry into the global gas market is an option that we planned for and will be implemented, and the abnormal situation cannot continue by burning gas that wastes wealth and harms the environment."
He added, "One of the main reasons for the electricity crisis is the lack of fuel. We import gas at a cost of 10 trillion dinars annually, and Iraq today imports even oil derivatives, even though it is an oil producer and exporter. We will work to sign contracts for the construction and investment of refineries, and we will reach self-sufficiency in gas." Within 3 years to cover all our needs.
