The newspapers issued in Baghdad today, Monday, the twenty-seventh of February, followed the reasons for the delay in sending the budget to Parliament, and the extent of the government's success in fixing the dollar exchange rate and controlling prices .. and other issues.
Al-Zawraa newspaper, published by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, followed the reasons for the delay in sending the budget to Parliament, noting the Parliamentary Finance Committee's assertion that changing the dollar exchange rate is one of the reasons for the delay.
A member of the Finance Committee, Representative Nazem Al-Shibli, said in an interview with Al-Zawraa: “The government has the right to send a budget that clearly expresses its government approach and supports the paragraphs mentioned in the ministerial approach.”
Al-Shibli added: “The delay in the budget is more unjustified, but changing the exchange rate that has become will restore all budget accounts.”
And he continued: “According to our communication with the government, it has completed all procedures and observations on the budget and will send it during the current week,” noting: “The budget will take about 6 weeks for the purpose of approval.”
For his part, the financial advisor to the Prime Minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, confirmed the increase in investment spending in the budget, indicating that it will relate to infrastructure services projects with efficiency in financial achievement confirmed by the services campaign according to the ministerial platform.
And Al-Zawraa quoted him as saying: “Whenever the spending ceiling increases, the percentage of growth or increase will be allocated to investment spending in a continuous manner.”
He explained: “What distinguishes the federal general budget for the year 2023 is the investment spending related to infrastructure services in the cities of Iraq in a consistent manner.” Last October, before the adoption of the Federal General Budget Law 2023, as the maximum benefit was made from the Emergency Support for Food Security and Development Law in order to achieve efficient allocation and really directed spending on investment businesses related to economic development.
Al-Sabah newspaper, published by the Iraqi Media Network, followed the success of government measures to stabilize the dollar exchange rate and control prices.
The newspaper stated that the parliamentary legal committee believes that the government's measures have not succeeded so far in stabilizing the exchange rate of the dollar and curbing prices in the markets.
A member of the Legal Committee, Raed Al-Maliki, told Al-Sabah: The government's measures have not yet succeeded in stabilizing the exchange rate of the dollar, despite setting the official price at 1130 dinars to the dollar, noting that the exchange rate still exceeds 150,000 dinars for every 100 dollars. .
He added: “The prices of goods and services are still very high, and they exceed the prices that were when the dollar exchange rate was 1146 dinars per dollar.”
And the parliamentary legal member continued: “We view this matter as a criterion for the safety and effectiveness of the government’s measures.”
He pointed out: “The committee will not wait long about this matter, as the government bears the difference in the price of the dollar between the official and parallel sale in the market,” stressing: “The arrest of a person or speculator in the market will not suffice, because the country’s foreign trade is large and depends on the dollar.” Therefore, these steps so far are not sufficient or convincing.
As for Al-Zaman newspaper, it followed the government's interest in the youth segment and its pledge to support and develop their abilities.
The newspaper said: "The government pledged to launch a development initiative that enhances the role of youth and supports the development of their capabilities and ideas to enter the labor market."
In this regard, she indicated that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani presided over a meeting with the team concerned with the youth support initiative, which came to implement the objectives of the ministerial curriculum in improving the status of youth and developing their capabilities.
And she indicated: “Al-Sudani affirmed that the government is determined, through its governmental program, to support youth, through a special initiative that includes a number of programs and projects, all of which aim to develop youth capabilities and enable them to enter the labor market, face various challenges and work to mitigate their effects.”
It quoted Al-Sudani: “Embracing young people and strengthening their role in society is the duty of the state with all its institutions, as they constitute the highest percentage of society, and it is our duty to embrace their ideas and initiatives that are always characterized by leadership and creativity.”/ End
