    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed today, Thursday, that the new Iraq is looking forward to becoming a unified force for good and bridging the gap between the regional powers.
Rashid said in a speech during the meeting of the contact group at the summit level of the Non-Aligned Movement in Azerbaijan and its follow-up (Baghdad Today), that "the Corona epidemic made us all suffer and taught us valuable lessons," noting that "recovery after the pandemic must focus on a new social contract."
He added, "The Iraqi government takes climate change issues seriously," stressing that "Iraq enjoys peace and security after long periods of conflicts, wars, and terrorist attacks."
The President of the Republic indicated that "we must act now and give priority to supporting affected communities and raising public awareness, and that it is our collective responsibility to address the root causes of climate change through reasonable policies and the allocation of appropriate funds."
However, he added, "Iraq has had its fair share of wars and destruction, which cost it many human lives, resources and reputation, and meaningful solutions can only be reached through peaceful dialogues."
President Rashid pointed out that "we must give peace all opportunities, engage in constructive dialogue, and unite efforts to eliminate violent extremism," stressing that "Iraq is ready to restore its positive role at the regional and global levels, and that the new Iraq aspires to become a unified force for goodness and bridging the gap between regional powers.
Rashid stressed that "the new Iraq works to strengthen relations with its neighbors on the basis of mutual respect, and that it is our collective duty to ensure the improvement of living standards, the promotion of peace and stability, the protection of the environment and the diversification of the economy."
He continued, "Significant progress has been made in crude oil production, and Iraq continues to invest in gas processing, refining, and petrochemical industries."
He explained that "Iraq has the ability to become an industrial center for petrochemicals and is able to compete globally," pointing out that "we were able to mobilize support for the government to implement its ambitious ministerial program."
Earlier yesterday, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, arrived in Azerbaijan to participate in (the meeting of the contact group at the summit level of the Non-Aligned Movement for recovery after the Corona pandemic).
