    Shafaq News/ Today, Saturday, the independent Iraqi politician, Mithal Al-Alusi, strongly criticized the announcement of the General Authority of Customs to implement the decision to ban the entry of alcoholic beverages.
    Al-Alusi told Shafaq News agency, "The pro-Iranian parties want to make Baghdad an Islamic state by implementing such decisions that violate the Iraqi constitution, which granted freedom and personal freedoms, especially since Iraq is a country with different orientations, whether religious or cultural, and therefore it is not possible to impose an opinion extremist parties on the views of the Iraqis.



    And he indicated that "this decision is very dangerous and includes targeting personal freedoms," expressing his opinion that this decision may aim to increase the drug trade in Iraq, especially since such decisions are in the interest of the parties that work to introduce and trade in drugs, and these parties are of Iranian orientation. This is known to everyone."
    And the Iraqi General Authority of Customs directed, earlier today, Saturday, March 4, all regions and customs centers to prevent the entry of alcoholic beverages of all kinds.
    And the Iraqi Gazette, (the Official Gazette that includes laws and decisions ratified by the Presidency of the Republic), published on February 22, the Municipal Imports Law in Article 14/First, which states, “It is prohibited to import, manufacture, and sell alcoholic beverages of all kinds, and whoever violates this shall be punished with a fine.” Not less than 10 million dinars and not more than 25 million Iraqi dinars.
    And the Iraqi Council of Ministers decided, in its seventh regular session, which was held on February 14, 2023, to “impose an additional customs fee of 200% of the unit of measurement of the alcoholic beverage product imported to Iraq from all countries and origin, for a period of four years without reduction, and to monitor the local market during the period of application of customs duties.” additional".
