First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, chaired, on Sunday, an expanded meeting of the Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee, in the presence of the Mayor of the capital, Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kazem, and the advanced staff in the Municipality.
According to a statement by Al-Mandalawi's office, "During the meeting, they discussed a number of files related to lagging projects, municipal services provided to the capital's regions, the percentage of completion of implemented strategic projects, especially in densely populated areas, and municipal departments' preparations for social activities for the holy month of Ramadan."
Mandalawi said, "The legislative and executive authorities are supportive of the Baghdad Municipality, and the latter must invest this support and translate it into services and projects that the Baghdadi citizen can touch. Here, this support will depend on the extent to which the Municipality provides services, as well as the extent of its cooperation and response to the people's representatives, as they are closest to the suffering and needs of the street."
Al-Mandalawi expressed, "The House of Representatives is keen to increase the financial allocations for the Secretariat in the draft budget law in line with the strategic and service projects that it is carrying out," noting that "everyone looks at the great privacy of the city of Baghdad, which has a cultural history and economic and administrative importance, and this requires those in charge of Serving this city, making greater efforts to show the capital the status it deserves.” Ended 29/N33
