    The Ministry of Construction and Housing revealed, on Monday, the number of housing units that Iraq needs to solve the housing crisis, specifying the most prominent road projects within the first package to remove traffic jams.

    And the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Jaber Al-Hassani, said in a statement to the official agency, followed by “NAS” (March 6, 2023), that “according to our estimates, we need from (2.5-3) million housing units to solve this crisis, in addition to the recent state measures to own lands for citizens.” agriculture, so the number is acceptable.  
      
    Al-Hassani added, "This number is considered an immediate need, but there is an annual need due to long-term growth, because there is an increase in the need for these units by about 150,000 units as a result of population growth, since the Iraqi society is one of the young societies."  
      
    On the ministry's plans to develop roads, Al-Hassani stressed that "the first package of projects launched by the Prime Minister is considered the most important and largest in the history of the ministry, which will contribute to resolving bottlenecks and greatly facilitating traffic in Baghdad," explaining that "their initiation will take place during the next few months after completion Legal procedures of bidding and assignment.  
      
    He stated that "the ministry, with the support of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, is determined to proceed with this project," explaining that "the most prominent road is the fourth ring road, which will be linked to the rest of the other ring roads."  
      
    He stressed that "this package includes the construction of bridges, one of which is over Al-Nusour Square and on many other roads," noting that "the work on the Baghdad-Al-Shaab road will be within two shifts (morning and evening) to take into account the time limit."  
      
    Regarding the government effort, Al-Hassani stressed that "the government effort is formed by more than one side, including the Baghdad Governorate and the Baghdad Municipality, and the ministry also contributes through its companies, Hammurabi and Assyria, as well as the Mansour Company, which provided a human effort, as well as the Farouq Company, which will be involved in this issue."  
      
    He continued, "There are municipal departments participating in the effort in the governorates, which are Diwaniyah, Samawah, and Maysan."
