Shafaq News/ The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid stressed, on Monday, the importance of coordination with Italy to maintain water dams and irrigation projects in Iraq.
The media office of the Presidency of the Republic stated, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that Rashid received today, at the Baghdad Palace, the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Maurizio Cricanti, and stressed the need to develop bilateral relations and enhance aspects of cooperation and investment between Iraq and Italy in a way that serves common interests.
He pointed to the importance of coordination, exchange of experiences and visits between the two countries, especially with regard to the maintenance of dams, irrigation projects, agriculture, cultural aspects, and the development of archaeological sites and museums.
During the meeting, they also discussed the program of the President's visit to Italy at the invitation of Italian President Sergio Mattarella, which is the first visit organized by an Iraqi president.
In turn, the Italian ambassador affirmed his country's desire to strengthen relations and expand ways of cooperation with Iraq in various fields for the benefit of the two friendly peoples, indicating that his country is currently working on organizing a large exhibition dedicated to the Mesopotamian civilization in coordination with the Iraqi side.
