    Shafaq News / On Wednesday, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, saluted the women of Kurdistan on the occasion of International Women's Day, while stressing the need for them to have a greater presence alongside the women of the world.
    In a statement received by Shafaq News agency, Barzani extended his warmest congratulations to all the women of Kurdistan, Iraq and the world, wishing them further progress, perseverance and continuity.



    He said, "For years, women have been struggling in all fields in order to secure their legitimate rights, end oppression and violence, and combat inequality."
    He added, "Just as we supported them previously in the areas of legal reforms, social policies, financial independence, and education, we will always continue to support their struggle to guarantee all their rights."
    The President of the Kurdistan Region pointed out that "there is no free society, and a society cannot progress unless women are free in it," adding: "This is why we are working to make more space in the Kurdistan Region for women's participation in political and administrative life and all other fields, and to end The disturbing violence and violation against women and their rights.
    In this context, Barzani stressed the Kurdistan Region's need for "new work, policies and strategies in which everyone participates, and education and progress in the field of academic research and scientific studies, awareness and multilateral dialogue are the best ways to achieve this goal."
    He continued, "I salute and commend the women who had self-confidence and progressed in various fields and areas of life and proved their presence in them, and succeeded in performing their duties and carrying out the burdens of their jobs and becoming pioneers."
    He pointed out the importance of "Kurdistan women, alongside the women of the world, having more presence and participation in women's issues and other life issues."
    On this occasion, Nechirvan Barzani highly valued the work and struggles of Kurdish women in governmental and non-governmental organizations and in departments and institutions," adding, "We look with appreciation and gratitude for the efforts, toil and struggle of persistent women who work in any of the public and private sectors and have an active role in managing and building society." and the country.”
    Barzani saluted the "pure souls" of all women who sacrificed their lives for the sake of equality and the realization of women's rights and who were victims of violence, may their souls be happy and their memory be blessed."
