Adviser to the Prime Minister for Environment and Climate Affairs, Ali Al-Lami, confirmed that the budget allocations for the current year will include 30 projects related to climate change.

Al-Lami said in a statement to the “Duty of Honesty” program, presented by colleague Ali Imad, followed by Nass, (March 10, 2023), that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani allocated an item in the budget for the environment and climate for the first time in the history of Iraq, as the allocations for change Climate budget amounted to 6 billion dollars.
He added, "There is a great waste of water in Iraq, and drought is negatively reflected on various levels."
He continued, "On Sunday, a national climate conference will be held, and international organizations and donor countries will be present at this conference," pointing out that "Iraq will host a regional water conference next fall."
