On Saturday, the Parliamentary Services Committee announced its move towards approving stalled laws, including approving the capital Baghdad law.
Committee member Mahma Khalil said, in a statement reported by "Al-Sabah" newspaper, "One of the laws that can be reviewed during this session is the Public Roads Law and the Baghdad Capital Law, as well as the Law of Trespassing on All Lands and the Taxation Law."
He pointed out that “important laws were carried over from previous sessions, which we asked Parliament to proceed with voting,” indicating that these laws were withdrawn from the government for reconsideration to comply with the requirements of the current stage.
Regarding the capital law, Khalil explained, “It was not completed due to political differences in the previous sessions, and in this session there are two draft laws, which will be unified according to the constitutional and legal articles, and the legislation of the law will be linked in order to dismantle the overlaps between the governorate and the municipality.”
