The World Food Organization has started training ration agents in Baghdad and all the country's governorates on the electronic ration card system.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Hanoun, told Al-Sabah: The Planning and Follow-up Department, with the support of the World Food Organization, has begun training food and flour agents on how to activate the program, create electronic accounts for the agency, and how to use the agent application for the system in all governorates of the country, including Kurdistan.
He added that the organization has now started training 157 agents, as a first stage, responsible for 196 agencies, and the course will continue until the end of this March, and before starting the distribution of the next April share in order to digitize the food distribution operations and follow them up between them.
In a related context, Hanoun mentioned that the General Company for Grain Processing is preparing to launch the third batch of flour during the month of Ramadan, with the formation of committees to carry out inspection visits to agents in Baghdad and the provinces to follow up and supervise them in supplying citizens with the material and ensuring that it conforms to the approved quality specifications. Regarding the marketing complexes, he stated that his ministry's preparations are underway to open them in order to launch direct sales to citizens during the next few days, which are the centers for selling meat, chicken, flour and cheese at subsidized prices, coinciding with the advent of the month of Ramadan.
