The head of the Parliamentary Culture Committee, Farouk Hanna, said: “The committee has many draft laws that it received from the concerned authorities, the most important of which was the law of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, and common laws with other committees, including the unions and institutions law,” noting that what matters “are the unions, The field of specialization of the committee, which is the unions of journalists, artists, writers, and writers, all of which have been postponed until the proposals are completed.
Hanna added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah" that the committee "is continuing to work on draft laws read for the first and second time, which is the national day of Iraq, as well as proceeding with the second reading of the draft law on freedom of expression and demonstration, and the first reading of the Iraqi media network law," noting that the committee "It participates with other committees in drafting the Information Crimes Law, and hosts a group of specialists, including the former and current ministers of culture, the head of the Iraqi Media Network, and other hosts."
The head of the Culture Committee continued, "The most important thing in the Iraqi Media Network draft law is overcoming problems and separating the powers of each of the bodies in order to avoid overlapping in the powers between the head of the Iraqi Media Network and the trustees, and we seek to address the interferences with articles and paragraphs that address the situation," calling for "the formation of a higher cultural council It includes all unions to protect the rights of all groups, provided that the council is linked to the highest executive body, as is the case in all countries of the world due to the work of many unions within one specialty, such as the Journalists Syndicate and the Journalists Union.
He pointed out that "the national day law is present in all constitutions of the world as Independence Day, and what is proposed now is that October 3 will be the national day, which is the date of Iraq's entry into the League of Nations, despite it remaining under British tutelage and among the Commonwealth political agreement countries affiliated with Britain and under The influence of the Baghdad Military Pact," calling for considering "July 14, 1958 the true day of independence, regardless of class and social conflicts, as it is put up for voting today."
