Shafaq News/ A source in the Iraqi government stated, on Saturday, that the visit of the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Admiral Ali Shamkhani, to Baghdad aims to conclude a memorandum of understanding regarding border security between his country and Iraq.
The source told Shafaq News agency that Shamkhani will arrive in Baghdad in the coming hours in response to an official invitation sent by the Iraqi government, indicating that during the visit he will meet the three presidencies (President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, Speaker of Parliament Muhammad al-Halbousi, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani). .
He added that border security between Iraq and Iran is one of the most important goals of the visit, indicating that the Iranian official will hold consultations in Baghdad with both: the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and the Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, to discuss border security, and a memorandum of understanding in this regard will result. .
Shamkhani will participate in the Baghdad International Dialogue Conference, in its fifth edition, this week in the Iraqi capital, with the participation of security officials in Iran, the UAE, Turkey, Syria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
The source also indicated that the National Security Adviser of the United Arab Emirates, Tahnoun bin Zayed, the head of Turkish intelligence, Hakan Fidan, and other security officials from some neighboring countries will participate in the conference.
