The head of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Atwan Al-Atwani, affirmed, on Sunday, the government’s intention to pass a law to unify the salary scale for state employees, indicating that the Council of Ministers is able to pass it as one of the powers of the executive authority without the need for Parliament.

Al-Atwani said in a televised interview, “The committee specialized in amending the salary scale is studying and maturing it, and it is now in the custody of the Economic Study Committee that studies the negative aspects and its impact on the market, and after it passes, the Council of Ministers will be able to vote on it.”

He added that "if peace is in need of legislation, the Council of Ministers will submit the proposed draft law to Parliament."

The Chairman of the Finance Committee denied, “The intersection of peace with previous laws enacted by Parliament, so it will be possible to raise it to obtain approval for the amendment,” noting that “the law may be able to proceed smoothly from the Council of Ministers because it is one of the powers of the executive authority without the need for Parliament.”

He explained that “the proposed law aims to do justice to the lower grades of employees with very small salaries that do not cover their daily needs,” noting that “the draft proposal is without exceptions because it is a ladder for all state employees from the tenth grade and above.”
