Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Commerce determined the expected wheat production volume and the country's actual need, while noting that ships loaded with imported wheat would arrive in Iraq over the next fourth and fifth months.
"The expected volume of wheat production this year will be between 3.5-3 million tons, and the real need for the country is 4 million and 600 thousand tons," said Khaled Ismail al-Nadawi, Director General of Grain Processing at the Ministry of Commerce.
Al-Nadawi added, "The import side is secured by the Ministry of Commerce, and it has started to secure Canadian, Australian and American imported wheat, and now we have the quantities arriving at Iraqi ports between 4 to 5 ships."
He pointed out, "Over the coming fourth and fifth months, the ships will arrive, respectively, as the gross domestic product and import will provide the total need."
