Today, Saturday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee considered that the decline in oil prices in the global market is temporary and has no impact on the budget because it is calculated according to an annual rate.
Committee member Jamal Cougar said, “95% of Iraq’s resources are oil, but we cannot rely on a drop in oil prices for two days or more, as this decline is linked to certain circumstances, and for this reason there are no fears about the current decline and its impact on the budget deficit.”
And Cougar indicated that “it is not possible to judge Iraq’s oil resources by simply declining oil for a few days, as the budget is calculated as an annual rate, and not as an account for a day or two. There is a possibility for oil to rise during the next month or two, and the account in the budget is calculated on the annual rate, and for this there is no effect of the decrease.” oil for a few days.
