The Imtiad Movement, which emerged from the October 2019 protests, issued today, Sunday, a statement regarding its position on the proposed election law, "St. Lego", which the House of Representatives seeks to vote on.
And the Secretary-General of the Extension Movement, Alaa Al-Rikabi, stated in a statement received by (Baghdad Today), that “today the white thread will be distinguished from the black thread,” indicating that “passing the provincial elections law and the House of Representatives in this way and with the St. Lego system and despite the will of the people and the return of the country to The first box, the boundary, will be :
- Between those who respect the sacrifices, honesty, and pure blood in the great October, and the demands of the peaceful revolutionary youth, and those who were lured and seduced by the world of corruption parties .
- Between those who represent the people's true aspirations and their desire for change, and those of the power parties who seek to extend their influence over all state institutions at any cost .
- Between those who really respect the vision of the religious authority in Najaf, represented by His Eminence Sayyid al-Sistani, may his shadow last, and those who are pretending to be liars .
Regarding the movement's position on the election law, which the House of Representatives is seeking to vote on, Al-Rikabi said: "Our opinion and our decision are firm...rejecting the provincial councils and rejecting the proposed election law."
