Today, Sunday, the Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdel-Ghani, revealed that more than half of the country's need for gasoline has been imported.
The Minister of Oil said, during the Baghdad International Dialogue Conference: “We have a plan during the next five years to end the file of importing gas from abroad.”
He added, "We are currently importing 1,500-1,600 gas pumps from Iran."
Abdul-Ghani stressed, "We import more than half of the country's need for gasoline," pointing out that "the Karbala refinery will provide more than 50% of imported gasoline when it is operational."
He continued, “We have ambitious plans to invest in solar energy in Iraq, and we are about to establish the largest station in Iraq that generates 1,000 megawatts in the south of the country.”
