The Iraqi Media Network intends to conclude a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Environment and the Media and Communications Authority to support the national initiative for renewable energy and reduce emissions.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Electricity warned that air pollution rates with carcinogens reached 39 percent.
The head of the National Initiative Committee in the Iraqi Media Network, Tariq Abdul-Amir, told Al-Sabah: The network, in light of the national initiative to support renewable energy and reduce emissions launched by the Prime Ministry in 2021, is heading, in coordination with the Ministry of Environment and the Media and Communications Authority, to conclude a protocol to support the aforementioned initiative in the media. .
He added that programs will be devoted to the importance of reducing emissions and the role of the citizen in this initiative and focusing on the objectives of the initiative in addition to the educational role that the network will play in this aspect, revealing the formation of the (ISO) energy team, which includes all heads of quality and performance evaluation departments in institutions. government, as well as the media team and the awareness team.
For her part, the Director of the Quality Management Department at the Ministry of Electricity, Shaima Sadiq, stated in a statement to Al-Sabah: that there is a campaign that will be launched soon, in coordination with several parties, including the Ministry of Agriculture and the Provincial Administration, to plant one million trees throughout the country’s governorates with the aim of reducing the volume of pollution in the air, noting that A team is currently preparing a study and division of the areas targeted for agriculture.
In the same context, she stressed that the volume of air pollutants, most of which are carcinogens, reached 39 percent, compared to the internationally accepted percentage that does not exceed two and a half percent, and therefore there is a great danger threatening the lives of citizens as a result of large air pollution.
