    The National Retirement Authority revealed, on Tuesday, paragraphs that need to be amended in the retirement law, while indicating that the government is serious about supporting the elderly and retirees.

    The head of the Public Retirement Authority, Maher Al-Bayati, said in a statement to the official agency, followed by “NAS” (March 21, 2023), that “some legal articles in the retirement law require amendments through legislative intervention,” noting that “the issue of equality between retirees or not is based on According to what is contained in the laws, in terms of legal provisions.  
      
    Al-Bayati added, "The first amendment of the Unified Retirement Law No. 9 of 2014 appeared in special and exceptional circumstances and contains some problems that the Authority faced during implementation," pointing out that "some of the problems have been addressed, and the other part requires legislative intervention."  
      
    He pointed out that "the articles that need to be amended are Articles 13 and 14 of the law, and articles related to the issue of its operation, the end-of-service reward, and issues related to the legal age for years of service."  
      
    He continued, "The National Retirement Authority's main task is to simplify procedures in aspects related to implementing the law and giving rights to retirees," pointing out that "the government is serious about its government program to support the elderly and retirees."  
      
    He explained that "there is an intention of the National Retirement Authority to study these legal texts and deal with them," noting that "a large committee has been formed from the competent authorities to set instructions related to the implementation of the law, and the procedures are extended to amend some legal texts in coordination with the House of Representatives."
