The Higher Agricultural Committee in Najaf pointed out that the summer plan for the province will be exclusively for the rice crop, which it is famous for, announcing several recommendations in preparation for its season, which will start in early June.
The first deputy governor of Najaf, Hashim Al-Karawi, said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": The recommendations set by the committee, which must be communicated to the Ministry of Agriculture during the current week, were summed up by determining the actual amount needed by the province of water quotas, provided that releases from the Ministry of Water Resources begin on the tenth of May. next June.
He added that the recommendations stressed the Najaf Agriculture Directorate to determine the quality and quantity of seeds needed by the farmers of the crop, to start distributing them among them in the middle of next month, in addition to the need for the Ministry of Trade and seed companies in the Ministry of Agriculture to receive the crop from its farmers, stressing that the summer plan for the province will be exclusively for the cashew crop. Because of the difficult water situation in the country.
Al-Karawi noted the need for the country to adopt technical plans to rationalize water consumption in light of the suffocating water crisis it is going through for the fourth consecutive season, pointing out that Najaf was the first to rationalize water consumption among the governorates, after its success in cultivating its entire area for winter and summer crops, without exceeding the water quota. specified, as a result of its adoption of tight plans to rationalize water consumption in cooperation between the competent departments, agricultural associations and farmers of the province.
