    The North Refineries Company has set the end of this year 2023 as the date for adding two refining units to the Haditha refinery.
    The director of the studies and planning department in the company, Abdel-Wahhab Khalaf, told Al-Sabah, which was followed by Al-Iqtisad News, that the Haditha refinery is one of the company's refineries, and currently consists of two production units with a capacity of 16,000 barrels per day.
    He added that work is currently underway to add two additional refining units with a capacity of 10,000 barrels per day for each, as the completion rate has reached 66 percent, and it is hoped that they will be completed by the end of this year.
    Khalaf indicated that a contract was signed with the American company (Honeywell uop) for the purpose of completing the (fast feed) stage, after which the initial designs would be approved and direct invitations would be sent to international companies to add hydrogenation units and improve gasoline, isomerization and service units to the refinery. 
    For his part, the expert in the fields of safety and energy, Sabah Alo, told Al-Sabah: The development of any industrial facility in the field of energy, especially oil refineries, will give Iraq the possibility of meeting the local need of the derivatives it imports, which burden the budgets and are estimated at 3.5 billion dollars annually.
    And he indicated that work is underway to restore the production of a modern refinery for derivatives, thus relieving pressure on the rest of the refineries in terms of transportation and packaging, as well as filling the need, indicating that this project comes in line with the production of the Karbala refinery and the start of the Al-Faw refinery, which will allow Iraq to be self-sufficient and it is possible to export the surplus. also.
