    Shafaq News/ An independent deputy revealed, on Monday, that the independent members of the Iraqi Parliament have begun procedures for dismissing the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, from his post, in light of the events of the voting session on the election law, indicating that there is "Sunni and Kurdish" support for the procedures for dismissal.



    Independent MP Hadi al-Salami told Shafaq News agency, "Today, the independent parliamentarians held a meeting to discuss the repercussions of what happened in the voting session on the election law," noting that the participants "decided to collect signatures to dismiss Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi."
    He added that the assembled independent deputies "gained support and endorsement by some deputies in the Kurdish and Sunni blocs," pointing out that "the coordination framework rejects the idea of ​​dismissing Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi from his post."
    And Al-Salami stated, "We have started the process of collecting signatures from independent representatives and deputies in the Sunni and Kurdish blocs to dismiss Al-Halbousi," stressing, "We will submit the request, supported by a signature, to the Presidency of Parliament according to the internal system, to include a paragraph to remove Al-Halbousi from office in the upcoming sessions."
    At dawn today, Monday, the Iraqi Council of Representatives completed voting on the third amendment to the Parliament, Provincial and District Councils Elections Law No. 12 of 2018, in a session that witnessed complete chaos at the beginning of its session.
    On Sunday evening, chaos engulfed the House of Representatives, impeding the stability of the quorum, minutes after the start of the session devoted to completing the vote on the amended provincial and district council elections law.
    The chants of the independent deputies and the emerging blocs caused a state of chaos, as a result of which the session was stopped, which then developed into a verbal altercation between the independents and deputies of the coordination framework.
    As a result, Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi decided to refer a number of independent deputies to the Parliamentary Behavior Committee, as a result of the chaos that occurred inside the session hall.
    After the return of calm, the Speaker of Parliament directed the resumption of voting on the remaining eight paragraphs of the election law.
