Today, Tuesday, the General Company for Foodstuff Trade in the Ministry of Commerce announced the arrival of a ship loaded with 42,000 tons of Thai rice for the food basket.
The company's general manager, Lama Hashem Al-Moussawi, said in a statement, "The ship arrived at the delivery area in the port of Umm Qasr, loaded with rice, which is to be supplied to citizens within the food basket."
She added, "A team of laboratory examiners in the company's quality control department boarded the deck of the ship upon its arrival to withdraw the rice samples in order to carry out the initial examination."
And she confirmed, "These samples were sent to the laboratory of the central quality control department at the company's headquarters in Baghdad to complete the rest of the tests and indicate its suitability for human consumption before launching the processing operations for agents."
And she indicated, "The company will, after the results of the laboratory examination appear, unload the ship's cargo and prepare a marketing plan for the total quantity received and distribute it to the governorates."
