On Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani issued several directives to end delay in the capital's entrance projects, while stressing the need to provide him with a weekly position that includes details of the progress of completion of these projects.
Al-Sudani pointed out in a statement to “the daily suffering of citizens due to the poor entrances to the capital, Baghdad, and the failure of the concerned authorities to deal with this important project for citizens, vehicles, community, service and security activities, and the failure to estimate the size of the problem, blaming the concerned authorities for this delay, with unacceptable justifications.” That “the situation at those entrances has become unbearable, and it is not possible to be courteous in this situation.”
The Prime Minister reaffirmed "the need for the competent authorities to set priorities regarding project plans, as there are projects that do not accept disruption and delay, by mobilizing the concerned authorities with all their staff and powers to complete the implementation of the entrance projects, and to address the delay in working on them."
During the meeting, the Prime Minister issued several directives to resolve the completion of the capital's gates projects, the most important of which are:
• Take all necessary measures towards lagging companies, and the ministries and the governorate must fully implement their duties.
• Increasing working hours to be three meals a day, 24 hours a day.
• Settling the spare parts for the Baghdad-Mosul entrance project within 10 days.
• The Ministries of Defense, Interior and Justice should raise all conflicts that hinder these projects within a period of two weeks.
• The governor, deputy governor and technical assistants must work in the resident engineer's office for these projects, follow them up in the field, and be constantly present.
• Providing the Prime Minister with a weekly report that includes details of the progress of these projects.
