With the lack of time and the approaching end of a quarter of the fiscal year, the budget is still in the drawers and has not been distributed among the committees, although its draft reached Parliament a week ago.
The head of the Immigration and Displacement Committee, Sharif Suleiman, said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "The draft budget is in the corridors of the presidency of the Council, and so far it has not been referred to the relevant committees, due to the Council's preoccupation and preoccupation with approving amendments to the election law," and considered it "a necessary law that is hoped Through it, district and sub-district elections will be held this year, and there is confirmation and political agreement on them between the political blocs and placed within the government program.
Suleiman added, "The election law is the reason that led to the budget not being sent from the presidency to the relevant committees, and the political consensus signed between the blocs remains the reason for not sending the budget," noting that "Parliament decided to vote on the amendments to the election law before the budget and after it was completed." Upon completion of these amendments, the budget law will be sent to the relevant committees.
The head of the Parliamentary Immigration Committee pointed out that "there is some flexibility in the issue of returning the budget to the government due to the difference in oil prices, as there are many things that the government can avoid despite the presence of a noticeable discrepancy in oil prices," pointing out that "the parliament is running out of time to approve the budget." , due to the government's delay in writing it, and for this reason it must be passed as quickly as possible to allow the government the opportunity to implement it
its program.”
And he indicated that "Parliament has the right to transfer and reduce, and to discuss many matters with the representative of the government, and this matter is up for discussion, but it is unlikely that it will be returned to the government."
Regarding balancing the displaced in the budget, Suleiman explained that the ministry "has set what it deems appropriate and we will have a say in that, and we will demand the inclusion of a lot of money for the Ministry of Migration and the Displaced because we hope to return the displaced to their areas and compensate them, and add other amounts for the displaced to implement the government program for the return of the displaced to their homes." their areas and provide them with basic necessities.
