    Economy News - Baghdad
The head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, affirmed, on Wednesday, the commission’s determination to intensify its efforts to recover convicts and smuggled assets, indicating that this contributes to supporting the state treasury and development projects included in the government program.
According to a statement by the commission, Hanoun praised, during his meeting at the commission’s headquarters, the ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Iraq, Hamid bin Ahmed bin Aqeel, the “cooperation of the Omani side (with) the commission in the recovery file,” noting that “the first of this cooperation was the arrest of the convicts by the Omani authorities.” The fugitives are the former Director General of Urban Planning in the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, and the former Director of the Agriculture Directorate of Anbar Governorate, who are wanted by Iraq.
He added, "The Integrity Commission hopes that the Sultanate of Oman will be at the forefront of countries cooperating with Iraq in the file of recovering funds and convicts through its Omani counterpart, the Financial and Administrative Control Authority," noting that the talks between the two parties on concluding a memorandum of understanding have reached advanced stages; In order to exchange information and investigations about the accused wanted by the courts, and corruption funds smuggled abroad; with a view to recovering it.
For his part, Ibn Aqil expressed, "The Sultanate's readiness, represented by the Financial and Administrative Control Authority and the rest of the competent authorities, to document and strengthen coordination and cooperation with Iraq, especially in the recovery file and the exchange of experiences between the two parties, according to what was stipulated in international and regional agreements and the memorandum of understanding to be concluded with the Iraqi Integrity Commission." .
