Parliament gives priority to 4 laws out of 127

The Parliamentary Legal Committee decided to proceed with approving four important laws out of 127 laws sent by the government, which included projects and proposals accumulated from previous parliamentary sessions.
The deputy head of the Legal Committee, Mortada Al-Saadi, explained to Al-Sabah that his committee had received 127 laws accumulated from the previous sessions, including the laws of the previously dissolved Revolutionary Command Council, noting that the committee would proceed towards approving four priority laws, to bridge The citizen’s need, which is “the budget, retirement, amnesty, and the Federal Court.”
And Al-Saadi indicated that “the laws are of two types, the first of which is sent by the government, and the second is proposed by Parliament and submitted by ten deputies for amendment or legislation,” noting that “some laws will witness a lot of discussions, including the general amnesty law.”
It is noteworthy that the draft budget law sent this year differs from the rest of the previous years, as the Council of Ministers, during its session held on March 13, approved its draft law for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, which is the highest in the history of Iraq, with a value exceeding 197 trillion dinars. On the basis of the price of oil at $70, while the deficit amounted to 63 trillion dinars.
