    Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Environment announced an agreement with developed countries to establish the Green Climate Fund for Losses and Damages, while noting that Iraq had received $68 million as part of the Sharm el-Sheikh climate conference.
    The Director General of the Technical Department at the Ministry of Environment, Issa Al-Fayyad, said in an interview with the official agency: “Iraq obtained an amount of 68 million dollars within the Sharm El-Sheikh conference,” noting that “the amount will contribute to presenting projects for various governorates related to food security, including agricultural and water, This has a major role, especially for the central and southern governorates."
    Al-Fayyad added, "Negotiations conducted with developed countries were able to achieve a great achievement in addition to the Paris Agreement," noting that "the agreement stipulates that countries affected by climate change mention losses in their report and submit it internationally, while the negotiations reached an agreement to set up a special fund." (Green Climate Fund) for Loss and Damage".
    He continued, "Iraq has suffered damage due to climate change, and developed countries must compensate it, especially since it is considered the fifth most fragile country in the world from climatic changes," stressing "the importance of benefiting from this support and presenting successful projects or proposals, especially for water, lining and energy use projects." clean".
    He pointed out, "Iraq was able to obtain an amount of 68 million dollars, of which 35 million dollars and a half will be approved permanently, in addition to allocating Iraq an amount of 3 million dollars, and therefore the amount will be 38 million dollars and will be allocated for projects in the holy governorates of Karbala, Najaf and Muthanna."
