    Economy News-Baghdad
Today, Thursday, the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, detailed in figures the most important privileges provided by Social Security to the employee and his family, and while confirming the completion of 90% of its requirements, he indicated that its launch depends on the position of the Federal Court currently presenting the law.
Al-Hasnawi said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The prime minister and the ministers have registered within the initial registration for health insurance, and we are in the process of preparations and introductions to complete the basic requirements for the application of the law."
He added, "The law was enacted in 2021, but it was not implemented, and we in this government took it upon ourselves to implement the law, and it was included within the government program, and we are in the process of preparing the prerequisites and foundations for its implementation."
And he continued, "There is an appeal submitted in the Federal Court, which has not yet been decided, and we are awaiting its decision, and despite that, we worked on the basic steps and completed almost 90% of the requirements."
He stressed, "We are now awaiting the Contracts Department at the Ministry of Health to refer the electronic system and the electronic health insurance department to a private sector company to take over the electronic management of the program. Upon issuance of the Federal Court's decision and the completion of the requirements and introductions within a short period, we will start providing services."
Regarding the most important services provided, the Minister of Health explained, "The employee will pay 1% of his salary for health insurance, and in return, health services will be provided to him and his family under the insurance. If his father and mother are alive and are not employees or retired, they will be included with him in the list. It is also included, meaning that all family members, regardless of their number, will be included within the 1% deducted from the salary.
He explained, “The Health Insurance Authority provides each family member with the right to go from 8-10 visits to the specialist doctor annually. Only 3 thousand dinars and the remaining 27 thousand dinars are paid from the health insurance fund, not to the employee alone, but to the entire family.
He also pointed out, "The insurance guarantees the payment of 50% of medicines, laboratory and radiological examinations, and the remaining 50% for the citizen. As for surgical operations, the guarantee fund pays 75-80% of their value, and the rest is for the citizen," noting that, "for example, if the employee's salary is one million He will only pay 10,000 dinars per month and 120,000 dinars annually, and if he has five members of his family, 24,000 dinars will be divided among them, each one will pay this amount annually and receive all this package of services that we talked about, which amounts to several million dinars.”
Al-Hasnawi stressed, "This project is within the government program, and its main objective is to reduce the financial burdens paid by citizens in the private sector, and nothing like it has been implemented in Iraq since its establishment."
