The Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khal Al-Battal, revealed, on Saturday, that there is a surplus in his employees amounting to 50% of the total number of employees, which number 102 thousand, indicating that the best solution to restore the industry is to carry out comprehensive reforms.
Al-Battal said in a televised interview: “Iraq owns 296 factories, including 104 of them that are stopped and old, and they can never be returned in any way.”
He added, "The total number of employees is 102,000, while the ministry needs 50,000 employees as a maximum if all factories are operating," noting that "layoffs are out of the question, so the only solution is to wait for their retirement and stop hiring completely to control numbers." .
He pointed out that "the talk about the economic feasibility of projects in Iraq is not achieved, as there is no profitable company due to the high fuel prices, labor wages, and the high production of commodities compared to neighboring countries." Ended 25 d
