Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Electricity confirmed the existence of governmental efforts to expand and increase the national free gas investment by operating the stations, after the success of a similar experiment in operating the Akkas gas station.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Musa, said in an interview with the official agency and was followed by Mawazine News: "There is government care and strict directives by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani for the sectoral authorities to work to complete the fuel plan, and there are government efforts to increase the exploitation of free national gas for the benefit of power stations." Pointing out, "There is high coordination between electricity and oil, which produced a qualitative achievement represented by restarting the Crutch station, which has been suspended for years."
He added, "The station is now operating with an operational capacity of 95 megawatts," indicating, "The Akkas station is the first station that operates on free gas in the field."
He pointed out, "Work is still continuing between the Ministries of Electricity and Oil to connect other wells to this field and then to the Akkas station to operate the second generating unit," noting, "The second generating unit will operate in mid-April."
Earlier, the Ministry of Electricity set the date for operating the second unit of the Akkas gas station, while indicating the tendency to invest associated and natural gas in operating the stations.
The ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Musa, told Al-Iraqiya News, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Last Wednesday, the first unit of the Akkas gas station was put into operation, and this achievement will be a reason to control the high operational costs, establish the infrastructure, sustain the work momentum in terms of energy, and reduce dependence on the supplied gas.” ".
He pointed out, "There is a government tendency to invest associated and natural gas in order to install and operate stations that run on associated gas and reduce operational costs from the supplied gas."
And he continued, "There are unremitting efforts to operate the second unit of the crutch gas station on the fifteenth of next May," pointing to the presence of "interest from Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani and coordination between the Ministries of Electricity and Oil to rehabilitate the gas fields, which will bear fruit and be a reason to address global warming and reduce carbon emissions.
