The Japanese JICA organization announced its willingness to invest in the field of agricultural fertilizers in Basra Governorate, while the Ministry of Industry confirmed that the project is vital for the province.
A statement by the ministry stated, "The technical undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Jumaa Diwan Al-Bahadli, discussed with the representative of the Japanese JICA organization mechanisms of cooperation and partnership to establish a new project for fertilizer production in the State Company for Southern Fertilizers Industry in Basra Governorate.
During the meeting, the available procedures for establishing the project were discussed and reviewed in terms of the value of financing, production capacity, and economic feasibility. The agent stressed that "the project is considered one of the strategic and important projects that will directly contribute to supporting the agricultural sector and achieving food security for the country."
For his part, the representative of the Japanese JICA organization expressed "the real desire to enter with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals to complete the project after presenting the matter to the Japanese government officially."
