    Diab Abdullah received in his office the delegation of the Kurdistan Region with the membership of the representative of the President of the Kurdistan Government, Bewar Khansi, Abd al-Rahman Khani, Director General of Dams and Reservoirs in the Region, and Karwan Sabah, Director General of Water Resources in the Region, and in the presence of the Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry, the directors of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs, and the National Center for Management Water Resources and Northern Region Studies Center.

    The statement added, "During the meeting, emphasis was placed on organizing and coordinating prospects for joint cooperation in the field of water with the Kurdistan region, in light of the water scarcity in Iraq that affects the quantity and quality of its water resources, and within the framework of striving towards establishing water security in Iraq, rationalizing consumption and including conforms to the relevant national requirements.

    And the statement continued, "The meeting also discussed the implementation of water harvesting dams and the feasibility of implementing them, as well as the region's establishment of a number of dams, as approved in accordance with the strategic study of water and land resources prepared until 2035, in addition to emphasizing the importance of high coordination with the region in operating storage control systems." And benefit from expertise to support the water resources sector in the country, in light of population expansion, which is offset by a shortage of water imports." 

    The Minister of Water Resources stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of serious cooperation and communication with the region, to secure water for all its beneficiaries, since managing the water file is a humanitarian issue and preserving its security is a national duty," stressing the ministry's striving to achieve it, and the risks of water pollution and the importance of providing it to citizens with good quality were also addressed. To preserve the health of the community.

    The minister stressed "the importance of following up the seismic sensors on the dams and updating them in anticipation of any emergency," calling on "the delegation to actively participate in the third Baghdad International Water Conference, which is scheduled to be held in Baghdad in early May, especially since the region is a partner with the central government in managing the water file internally and externally." .[/rtl]
