The Heya Foundation for Cultural and Media Development, in cooperation with the Suqia Foundation for Relief and Development, implemented an in-depth thinking session with a group of working women in Anbar, on Saturday morning, corresponding to April 15, 2023.
The session was opened by the project manager, Dr. Ahmed Khudair, by defining the activity, its objective, the topics that will be discussed during the day, and what are the most prominent challenges and obstacles that Anbari women suffer from, and are the obstacles that women suffer from in the rest of the governorates common, or does each governorate have a different specificity.
The session included presenting stories of harassment and discrimination that women suffered from or that they witnessed. Discrimination and harassment formed various segments of society, from female doctors to female service employees in that governorate.
The session also included an introduction to the Iraqi Labor Law No. 37 of 2015 and the rights that guarantee women in this law, as well as an introduction to the work of the inspection departments in the ministries and the mechanisms for submitting a complaint to reduce the phenomenon of harassment and discrimination.
It is noteworthy that this activity is one of the activities of the Women's Workforce Empowerment Project, supported by PartnersGlobal, and is being implemented in the governorates of Baghdad, Basra, Mosul, Karbala, Diyala, and Anbar.
