Today, Monday, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, affirmed Iraq's readiness to secure opportunities for constructive dialogue in the Republic of Sudan.
"We are following with pain the unfortunate developments in the Republic of Sudan, which claimed the lives of citizens, damaged institutions and disrupted opportunities to continue building and progress in the democratic and peaceful path in the brotherly country," the President of the Republic said in a statement.
He added, "Our firm confidence in the wisdom of the brothers in Sudan and their ability to peaceful and democratic dialogue is sufficient to ensure that we will overcome this crisis by immediately stopping fighting and armed actions, in a way that preserves the sanctity of blood and returns to the paths of democracy and peace."
And he continued: “As I express our keenness in Iraq for the security and peace of the Sudanese and for the democracy of the political system, we express our hope to renounce the use of arms, force and violence between brothers and rely on the principles of democracy to enhance opportunities for dialogue in a way that preserves life, peace and justice.”
The President of the Republic affirmed, "Iraq's readiness to make efforts and help in securing opportunities for constructive dialogue, in a way that contributes to giving priority to the logic of peace and strengthening the democratic approach."
He concluded his statement by saying: “We pray for the preservation of life and safety, and we affirm once again our confidence in the wisdom and wisdom that the brothers in the sisterly Republic of Sudan were known for.”
