    Information / Baghdad..
The wars of the grave regime and the American occupation and the subsequent ISIS invasion and the war on terrorism as well as the political interventions were reasons to paralyze the industrial movement in the country, in addition to flooding the market with imported goods, opening the door of borders wide, and despite that, many attempts have emerged in the past few years to advance this sector very important.
In order to learn about the industrial impact in Iraq, the agency / information / interviewed the Director General of Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Industry, Eng. Nasser Al-Madani, who shed light on the industrial reality.
Q: What is the real reality of the Iraqi industry at the present time?
A: Before delving into the details of the industrial reality in Iraq on both the public and private levels, we must not forget the tragedies that this sector was exposed to and the decline as a result of the reckless wars of the previous regime and the subsequent occupation of Iraq by the American forces that targeted the remaining factories and production plants in general. The country, in addition to the destruction of the infrastructure and what remains of that factory, especially in the western and central regions, was completely destroyed by the terrorist organizations Al Qaeda and ISIS.

Q: Have factories and laboratories been rehabilitated, and what is the percentage of that?
A: Unfortunately, all successive governments over twenty years did not pay serious attention to the rehabilitation of large factories and laboratories affiliated with the Ministry of Industry, and that all annual budgets did not allocate any amounts that would restore and rehabilitate factories other than operational allocations as salaries for employees, but there are some efforts and attempts that they have made. The Ministry has rehabilitated a number of laboratories with self-efforts, but it does not live up to ambition.
Q: What are the most important obstacles that direct and impede the progress of the industry?
A: There are many obstacles, the most important of which is the abhorrent quota and the interference of political blocs in the Ministry of Industry. The other important obstacle is the lack of application and implementation of laws and instructions related to product protection and even consumer protection. Importing a similar one and purchasing it from the Ministry of Industry exclusively, except after obtaining permission from the Ministry of Industry. However, the ministries did not buy for two years from the industry’s production under the pretext of its high prices. However, the truth lies in the existence of corruption through delegations and contracting with foreign companies to obtain their lineage and others.
The other obstacle is that when we want to rehabilitate the machines, machines and production lines for factories and production plants, it is difficult for us to obtain them because these lines and machines are old and the spare tools are missing from the internal and external market due to the development of these machines and production lines. Therefore, our cadres have manufactured some of them or repaired them according to their capabilities. limited.
Q: Does the ministry have the intention to sell factories and laboratories or offer them to participate with the private sector?
A: There are two types of factories and laboratories, including strategic ones, and these cannot be sold to the private sector, which are represented by strategic products such as petrochemicals, fertilizers, and chlorine acid, which is included in many industries, iron, steel, sulfur, and phosphate. These factories must be under the supervision of the state, while industries such as oils, textiles, and others can be It is sold or offered for participation or participation with the private sector, and we in the ministry prefer to sell it to the private sector.
Q: Do you have plans under implementation to support and develop the industry?
A: It is true and not a compliment that I am a government employee, but the truth must be said that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a al-Sudani is completely different from the rest of the previous prime ministers, as he is exceptionally interested in supporting the industrial sector, and that support results from the ministry’s urging to implement its short, medium and long-term plans, and that the Prime Minister And his government adopted the International Conference on Metallurgical Industries, which will be held in Baghdad next month, and will be attended by major international companies, and that the Ministry of Industry will present its plan to develop factories.
