Today, Thursday, April 27, 2023, the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received at the Baghdad Palace the Sabean-Mandaean delegation, headed by Sheikh Sattar Jabbar Helou, head of the Sabean-Mandaean sect in Iraq and the world.
The President of the Republic stressed the importance of making more efforts to serve the Iraqis with all their affiliations and components, pointing to the need to benefit from Iraqi competencies and energies abroad, and to encourage them to return, especially since the country enjoys security and stability and is witnessing an improvement in the overall situation, especially after the end of the repercussions of the Corona pandemic.
The President of the Republic added that Iraq has regained its former status and many leaders of countries have praised the positive developments the country is witnessing, especially since the government has an ambitious program to provide the necessary services and job opportunities for citizens.
The President of the Republic referred to the importance of protecting the Iraqi social fabric and preserving the diversity that characterizes the country, stressing that the Mandean Sabeans are an essential component in Iraq, and it is worthwhile for its people to contribute actively and seriously to the process of building and drawing the future of the country.
For his part, the head of the Sabean Mandaeans in Iraq and the world extended his congratulations to the President of the Republic on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the President for his proposals and supportive positions calling for guaranteeing the rights of all Iraqis of all affiliations. The head of the sect also confirmed that the President of the Republic is a continuous extension of the path of the late President Jalal Talabani.
Sheikh Sattar Jabbar Helou reviewed the conditions of the Mandean Sabeans and some of the issues facing them, stressing his confidence in the President of the Republic in preserving the social fabric and protecting diversity in Iraq.
