    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Thursday, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, the financial advisor to the Prime Minister, confirmed that the salary scale law was removed from the Council of Ministers years ago, while indicating that it needs a political consensus to pass it.
Salih told (Baghdad Today) that "the law discusses salaries in two directions, the first is fairness to junior employees and retirees with increases that exclusively guarantee minimum living standards only, and the other is to change high salaries towards setting limits for them, especially those that were legislated by a number of laws after 2003 or the privileges granted to some without others of the same job grade.
He explained, "This requires political consensus and a major disengagement, as it is a (radical) measure that requires setting a specific limit for job grades."
And earlier, the Parliamentary Finance Committee indicated that the new salary scale for state employees is still in the stage of scrutiny by the Council of Ministers, stressing that it has nothing to do with the budget law.
