The Ministry of Environment denied what was circulated by some satellite channels, news agencies and social media pages, that there was radioactive contamination in the Nineveh Hall of Baghdad International Airport.
The Director General of the Radiation Protection Center, Sabah Al-Husseini, said in a statement, which Mawazine News received a copy of, that "the Nineveh hall at Baghdad International Airport is devoid of any indications of radioactive contamination, after studying the reports of the technical inspection teams of the Radiation Control Department at the center."
He pointed out that the center's teams conducted the on-site radiological survey using the latest devices and techniques operating in the field of radiological survey and detection, and the results of the on-site measurements were devoid of any indication of radioactive contamination.
Al-Husseini stressed the need for channels, news agencies, and media institutions to take care of transmitting and circulating unconfirmed news and information until their authenticity is confirmed by the competent authorities, so as not to cause panic among citizens, and to take information from the authorized and official authorities in government institutions.
