Shafaq News/ The President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid stressed, on Thursday, that there are many commonalities between the Kurds, the Arabs and the rest of the Iraqi components that must be strengthened to develop the spirit of fraternity, holding the former regime responsible for pursuing the policy of estrangement among the people of one country.

Shafaq News agency reporter said that the President of the Republic inaugurated the Kurdish-Arab Cultural Center in Sulaymaniyah, with an official and cultural presence, with the aim of consolidating cultural relations between the center and the Kurdistan Region.

And our correspondent stated that, in addition to the President of the Republic, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, Minister of Immigration and Displaced Evan Faeq Yaqoub, a number of leaders of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, dignitaries, officials and a group of academics and writers attended the inauguration.

During the inauguration, the President of the Republic said, "We aspire through the Kurdish Arab Cultural Center to consolidate and develop relations and a common life between Kurdish culture and intellectuals and their fellow Arabs and other nationalities, and vice versa, that is, between Arab intellectuals and their Kurdish counterparts and other fraternal nationalities in a federal, democratic Iraq." The center is an independent civil institution.

He stressed that "what brings us together and unites us is a lot of cultural, national and social commonalities, and it is our responsibility to develop this diversity and enhance it by joint work, and we will work through this center to achieve some of these aspirations."

And he considered that "the work in the center will be for intellectuals, including writers, artists, writers, researchers and thinkers, without interference from any authority other than the authority of the common national culture."

He added, "Politics, especially in the recent decades of dictatorship, unfortunately worked on a kind of estrangement between the people of the country, and as a result of these policies, generations grew up that were not accustomed to the well-known coexistence between citizens of different nationalities."

The President of the Republic indicated that "opportunities for coexistence and learning languages have become possible and even necessary, and we aspire for any Kurdish to speak the Arabic language, just as we aspire for any Arab citizen or other nationalities to speak and understand Kurdish."

While the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani stressed, in his speech, the Ministry of Culture's keenness to support the projects of the Arab and Kurdish culture unit and the rest of the components, pointing to the importance of developing cooperation and joint work between writers and writers from various components.

While the Minister of Culture in the Kurdistan Region, Muhammad Hama Saeed, indicated that the Kurdish and Arab culture is one enlightening project that aims to reproduce societies capable of grasping cultural and societal awareness and launching to new horizons.

Secretary of the Supreme Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Farid Assarad, talked about the Kurds' use of the Arabic letter and how to adapt the linguistic problems that exist between the two languages, which facilitated the use of the language socially and culturally.

The head of the Iraqi Writers Union, Ali al-Fawaz, stressed the importance of providing a supportive political and cultural environment for such a project.

In turn, the head of the Judicial Oversight Authority, Judge Laith Jabr Hamzah, conveyed the greetings of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, and his wishes for success to the center, given that culture is a message of peace.

Dr. Ibrahim Khalil Al-Allaf presented a historical overview of the Arab-Kurdish brotherhood.
